PMC 520 Series

ImageStream PMC 520 series network cards are low-cost PCI 2.1 and IEEE P1386.1 compliant PMC adapters that provide multiport T1/E1 and DS3/E3 interfaces for WAN and Internet routing applications. The 520 series can be used with Pro Series routers and OEM products running Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, VxWorks or Windows.

The 520 series T1 and E1 cards support full or fractional line speeds independently for each port, while the DS3 and E3 cards support full circuits with all time slots active. The synchronous serial (SE) cards provide physical interfaces that can be independently configured via software and cabling to support the V.35, RS232, and RS422 communications standards. The RS422 interface supports standard EIA530, X.21, and RS449 physical interfaces using the appropriate cables.

The two 520 series base cards use different versions of the Infineon DSCC4 chipset. For synchronous serial, T1, and E1 applications, the 520 series uses the DSCC4 H-10 that supports up to four full duplex ports at speeds up to 10 Mbps per port for an aggregate maximum throughput of 40 Mbps full duplex. For DS3 and E3 applications, the 520 series uses the high-performance DSCC4 H-52 that supports speeds up to 52 Mbps per port and an aggregate maximum throughput of 108 Mbps full duplex. The 520 series hardware supports async, bisync, and SDLC/HDLC protocols with a low-latency PCI interface that can burst into host memory at 132 MBps.
