Short Code service is targeted at the inbound roamers.
It allows inbound roamers to use easy-to-remember
and shorter number to call places of common interest
(e.g. embassy, airline, travel information desk) or
home services (e.g. voicemail).
For example, say a Thailand mobile operator
has this service. When a Singapore mobile subscriber
roams to the operator's network, he can call Singapore
embassy in Thailand at this number 3622779 (embassy)
or his home voicemail at this number 864236245 (voicemail),
using his hand phone. The Short Code system shall
intelligently connects him to Singapore embassy and
his voice mail in Singapore based on his profile (e.g.
country of origin, network operator he subscribed
to).
This service brings convenience to the
inbound roamers and therefore encourages them to select
the service provider network. Service provider gains
from the local and international calls that the roamer
makes.
